Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies are universally loved, and are a classic, indulgent comfort food. Perhaps they were the go-to treat at the grandparents’ house, or you loved your dad’s version as a kid. For me, I love the process of cooking them with my kids. Whatever the reason, Choc Chip Cookies are a food that creates good memories or evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Eat them warm off the rack while the chocolate is still soft; cold and dipped in milk; straight from the oven, tossing them from hand to hand as they are too hot to hold… However you eat them, it’s nearly impossible to resist their aroma as it wafts throughout the house.
Size: Making larger or smaller Chocolate Chip Cookies is also possible. Keep in mind that smaller biscuits take less time to cook. Cook larger cookies for the same length of time as the recipe, and they will be a little more doughy in the centre. Alternatively, leave in the oven for another minute or two.
Butter: Using unsalted butter gives me more control with my cooking. I can add only as much salt as I need. However, if all you have is salted butter, you can still go ahead and make these choc chip cookies. Just omit the salt. They will still taste amazing!
To Chocolate or To Chip
When cooked, chocolate chips still hold their form in the cookies, unlike chopped block chocolate which tends to go gooey or melts into little puddles. That’s not to say one is better than the other. I find both delicious.
